0.095 mmol/L (middle of the reference range) = 0.836 mg/dL
Conversion formulas
| mg/dL | mg/dL = mmol/L × 8.795 | mmol/L = mg/dL × 0.1137 |
|---|---|---|
| mg/L | mg/L = mmol/L × 88.06 | mmol/L = mg/L × 0.01136 |
| µmol/L | µmol/L = mmol/L × 1000 | mmol/L = µmol/L × 0.001 |
| µg/dL | µg/dL = mmol/L × 8806 | mmol/L = µg/dL × 0.0001136 |
| µg/L | µg/L = mmol/L × 88 060 | mmol/L = µg/L × 0 |
Good to know
Pyruvate in cerebrospinal fluid is reported in mmol/L (also µmol/L) or in mg/dL.
- mg/dL × 0.1136 = mmol/L; 1 mmol/L = 1000 µmol/L.
- Pyruvate is very unstable: the sample has to be taken into perchloric acid and cooled at once, otherwise the value falls.

Note from the source: 0.04-0.15 mmol/L; other laboratories quote 0.03-0.22 mmol/L. Pyruvate is very unstable: the sample must be taken into perchloric acid. Read together with CSF lactate (lactate/pyruvate ratio about 0-18 in this laboratory)
